Fernando Alonso Díaz is a Spanish driver from Oviedo, Asturias, who made his Formula 1 debut with Minardi in 2001. With Renault he won the 2005 and 2006 world championships, ending Michael Schumacher's run of titles and becoming the youngest champion at the time. He later drove for McLaren, Renault again and Ferrari, finishing runner-up with the Italian team in 2010, 2012 and 2013, and has won 32 Grands Prix.
Away from Formula 1 he won the Le Mans 24 Hours in 2018 and 2019 with Toyota, the 2018–19 World Endurance Championship and the 2019 Daytona 24 Hours, and contested the Indianapolis 500. After a second McLaren spell and two years away, he returned with Alpine in 2021, joined Aston Martin in 2023 and holds the record for the most Grand Prix starts.
