Who is responsible for your data

The data controller for this website is Rerace (rerace.net). If you have any questions about this policy or about your personal data, email help@rerace.net.

Summary

• Rerace has no accounts or sign-ups and does not ask for your name, email address or payment details to use the site.
• Our hosting provider processes technical data such as IP addresses to deliver the site and keep it secure.
• With your consent where the law requires it, we use an analytics service to understand how the site is used, and advertising partners show the ads that keep Rerace free.
• Streams are embedded from third-party providers, which receive technical data from your browser when a player loads.

Information we process

Server and security logs. Rerace is delivered through a hosting and content delivery provider. When you visit, that provider processes technical information such as your IP address, browser type, device information, the pages you request, the referring page and the date and time of each request. This is needed to deliver the site, protect it against attacks and abuse, and diagnose errors.

Analytics. We use a tag manager to load an analytics service, which uses cookies and similar technologies to collect information such as the pages you visit, how long you stay, your device, browser and operating system, your approximate location (derived from your IP address) and how you arrived at the site. We use this information in aggregated form to improve Rerace and do not use it to identify you.

Advertising. Rerace is funded by ads from third-party advertising networks, including pop-under, social bar, native and banner formats. These networks and their partners may use cookies, similar technologies and information such as your IP address, device and browser details and your interactions with ads to deliver and measure ads, limit how often you see the same ad, prevent fraud and, where permitted, personalise the ads you see.

Embedded players. When you open a stream, the player is loaded directly from a third-party provider. That provider receives your IP address and browser information and may set its own cookies or show its own ads. Its processing is governed by its own policies, not this one.

Other third-party resources. Some features, such as images, flags, weather forecasts and live timing data, may be loaded from third-party services directly in your browser. These services receive your IP address and standard technical information as part of each request.

Preferences stored on your device. We use your browser’s local storage to remember choices such as your cookie consent, temperature unit and theater mode. This information stays on your device and is not sent to us.

Messages you send us. If you contact us by email or through our community and social channels, we process the information you provide, such as your email address or username and the content of your message, in order to reply. Those platforms process your data under their own privacy policies.

Why we use your data and our legal bases

Where the UK GDPR or the EU General Data Protection Regulation applies, we rely on the following legal bases:

• Legitimate interests (Article 6(1)(f)): to deliver, secure and maintain the website, keep server logs, prevent abuse, store essential preferences on your device, respond to your messages and handle copyright notices.
• Consent (Article 6(1)(a)): for analytics and advertising cookies and similar technologies, where the law requires consent. You can withdraw your consent at any time; this does not affect processing that took place before you withdrew it.
• Legal obligation (Article 6(1)(c)): where we must process data to comply with the law, for example to respond to a lawful request from a public authority.

You do not have to give us any personal data to use Rerace, although the site cannot be delivered without processing basic technical data such as your IP address. We do not make decisions about you based solely on automated processing that have legal or similarly significant effects.

Cookies and similar technologies

We use cookies and local storage for essential functions, analytics and advertising, and embedded players may set their own. Our cookie policy explains each category and how to manage your choices.

Who we share data with

• Hosting and security providers, which deliver the website and protect it against abuse.
• Analytics providers, which help us understand how the site is used.
• Advertising networks and their partners, which deliver and measure ads.
• Third-party stream providers, whose players load when you open a stream.
• Public authorities or other parties, where the law requires it or where we need to protect our rights, our visitors or the website.

We do not sell names, email addresses or other contact details to anyone.

How long we keep data

• Server logs are kept by our hosting provider for a limited period in line with its retention policies and are used mainly for security and troubleshooting.
• Analytics data is kept at event level for a maximum of 14 months; aggregated reports that do not identify you may be kept longer.
• Advertising cookies last for periods set by the advertising networks and their partners. You can delete them at any time in your browser settings.
• Local storage stays on your device until you clear your browser data or change your choice.
• Emails and messages are kept for as long as needed to deal with your request and any follow-up, then deleted. Copyright notices may be kept longer as a record of how they were handled.

International transfers

Our service providers may process data in countries outside the UK and the European Economic Area, including the United States. Where the law requires it, these transfers are protected by appropriate safeguards, such as an adequacy decision (for example, the EU-US Data Privacy Framework and its UK extension, for certified companies) or standard contractual clauses approved by the European Commission or the UK authorities.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:

• access the personal data we hold about you;
• ask us to correct inaccurate data;
• ask us to erase your data;
• ask us to restrict how we use your data;
• object to processing based on legitimate interests, and to the use of your data for direct marketing at any time;
• receive your data in a portable format, where this applies;
• withdraw your consent at any time, using the “Cookie settings” link in the footer;
• complain to a data protection supervisory authority, such as the Information Commissioner’s Office in the UK or the data protection authority in your EU country.

To exercise your rights, email help@rerace.net. Because Rerace has no accounts, we hold very little data that can be linked to you, and we may need some extra information to find it. We will respond within the time limits set by law, normally one month. For data held by our analytics, advertising or stream providers, you can also contact them directly.

Children

Rerace is not directed at children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from them. If you believe a child under 16 has sent us personal data, please contact us and we will delete it.

Security

Rerace is served over HTTPS and protected by our hosting provider’s security services. No website can guarantee complete security, but we keep the personal data we handle to a minimum and rely on established providers to process it.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy when the site, our providers or the law change. The latest version will always be published on this page, together with the date it was last updated.
