George William Russell is a British racing driver from King's Lynn in Norfolk who won the 2014 McLaren Autosport BRDC Award and then back-to-back titles in GP3 (2017) and Formula 2 (2018) as a Mercedes junior. He made his Formula 1 debut with Williams in 2019 and spent three seasons with the Grove team, earning it a second place in the rain-shortened 2021 Belgian Grand Prix.
Standing in for Lewis Hamilton at the 2020 Sakhir Grand Prix, Russell led much of the race for Mercedes until a pit-stop error and a puncture dropped him to ninth. He joined the team full-time in 2022 and won in São Paulo that year, then added victories in Austria and Las Vegas in 2024 and in Canada and Singapore in 2025, when he finished fourth in the championship.
