Sergio Pérez Mendoza is a Mexican driver from Guadalajara, Jalisco, who finished runner-up in GP2 in 2010 while a member of the Ferrari Driver Academy. He made his Formula 1 debut with Sauber in 2011, took three podiums the following year to earn a McLaren seat for 2013 and then spent seven seasons with Force India and its successor Racing Point, gaining a reputation for strong tyre management.
Pérez won for the first time at the 2020 Sakhir Grand Prix, in his 190th start, recovering from last place after first-lap contact. That earned him a Red Bull seat from 2021, and he added five more wins, including Monaco in 2022, before finishing runner-up to team-mate Max Verstappen in 2023. After a year out in 2025, he returned to the grid with Cadillac.
